Music for the Miracle – Various Artists

Music for the Miraclecollects mid-'80s pop and rock hits from the era in a one album only which as enjoyable to listen to after so many years. The Eighties were an age of big hair, bigger snare drums and massive hits. Music videos gave rise to a flashy new class of pop stars, leaving the baby boomers that weren’t fit enough to make it on MTV. Meanwhile, the hit-packed soundtracks of pop-savvy flicks movies like Flashdance and Purple Rain kept pace with the escalating box office grosses of the summer movie season. From ’80 to ’89, some big songs dictated by peak chart positions and total length of run on the Hot 100 kept music lovers asking for more.

This 12-track LP compilation of tracks from the likes of Bryan Adams, Lionel Richie and Bruce Springsteen, was made for uniting to fight leukemia and cancer for the T.J. Martell Foundation. Interestingly, The T.J. Martell Foundation is the music industry's largest foundation that funds innovative medical research focused on finding cures for cancer. Formed in 1976, the T.J. Martell Foundation is based in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. The Foundation was founded in 1975 by music industry executive Tony Martell and his colleagues in loving memory of his son T.J., who died of leukemia. The Foundation (www.tjmartell.org) has provided more than $280 million for research that supports eight flagship hospitals in the United States.

The album has songs like Cyndi Lauper She Bop, Tears for Fears Everybody Wants to Rule the World, Hall & Oats Out of Touch, Wham's Careless Whisper, and the Pointer Sisters I'm So Excited. Tracks by Paul Young Every time You Go Away, REO Speedwagon add to this enjoyable collection of '80s hits.

Don’t miss the touching message by Dr Albert Schweitzer on the back album sleeve. “There is no higher Religion than human service. To work for the common good is the greatest creed. There can be no question that the artists and everyone connected with this album belong to this religion”.
