Time Exposure - Little River Band

Those who have listened to The Little River Band, can surely say that the Little River Band is an awesome band. Their album ‘Time Exposure’ is certainly a prime example of their excellence. Glenn Sherrock, Beeb Birtles, Graham Goble, Wayne Nelson, David Briggs, Derek Pellucci, Bill Coumo and Peter James combine their estimable talents on the album's original 11 tracks and John Farnham appears on the bonus track, The Other Guy.

We know the quality of the album's three major hits, but the album slammed with two of their biggest hits right off The Night Owls (#6 hot 100 and #9 MSR), great guitar on this song, Take it easy on me, and of course Man on your Mind was #14. While we would select these as the best, the remaining tracks are equally impressive. What follows are a collection of soft-rock tunes that are not bad, but frankly kind of keep you awake to sing along. This band is very mellow and outside of the first two songs, their style is just way too laid back for someone with heavy tastes.

So you have Guiding Light which is a stunning ballad beautifully sung by Birtles, as is his marvelous Ballerina. The brief but beautifully harmonic Full Circle is also a highlight here. They approach the world of addiction with Don’t Let the Needle win, that goes with the ethereal Orbit Zero and rock out with Just say you love me, Love will survive and the last but not least Suicide Boulevard.

Revisit the music with fresh ears and you’ll love this album. They band is definitely masters of their craft and have a knack of pulling off some great stuff if you want to sit back and mellow out.
