Footloose – Original Music Soundtrack – Various Artists

This is 80s nostalgia at its finest. The chart topping soundtrack from the 1984 film ‘Footloose’ starring Kevin Bacon, features a host of artists with some 80s classics like Bonnie Tyler Holding Out For A Hero and Deniece Williams Let’s Hear It For The Boy.

When ‘Footloose’ came out in 1984, it was an instant hit. Everybody I knew raced out to see it, and a lot of the tunes from it became hits. It’s so representative of the music of the 1980s when I grew up.

The film tells the story of Ren McCormack (Kevin Bacon), a teenager from Chicago who moves to a small town, where he attempts to overturn the ban on dancing instituted by the efforts of a local minister (John Lithgow). In 1998, a musical version of Footloose premiered, featuring many of the songs from the film, the show has been presented on London's West End, on Broadway, and elsewhere.

After listening to music so many years there must be some great album you cannot forget, ‘Footloose’ is such a special album. It's a classic. Footloose by Kenny Loggins and Let's Hear It For The Boy by Denise Willams, to Mike Reno and Ann Wilson doing Almost Paradise, Bonnie Tyler's Holding Out For A Hero, Shalamar's Dancing In The Sheets and once again Kenny Loggins I'm Free (Heaven Helps The Man) and on down the line of songs to the catchy Never, by Moving Pictures, this soundtrack is almost as famous and well known as the movie, and indeed played a key role in the success of the movie.

If you’ve grooved to this soundtrack in the past relive those days, by giving it a spin.
