Get Your Wings - Aerosmith

Get Your Wings is a must own for any fan of Aerosmith or 70s rock and roll. I am so glad that have this on vinyl and have wings to show it off to any rock fan, read Aerosmith rocker.

It is one of those albums that I listen to and was made when I was probably only 6 years old, 1974. It is exceptional and has stood the test of time, with its 8 songs that has been appreciated for generations to come.

‘Get Your Wings’ was Aerosmith’s second album and it took the rawness of their debut self titled album and gave a more polished edge. With Steven Tyler on vocals, Joe Perry and Brad Whitford on guitars, Tom Hamilton on bass, and Joey Kramer on drums, Aerosmith despite the odds, has managed to outlast the hurdles they have faced down the last 50 years to become one of the most powerful and electrifying forces in popular rock music, selling in excess of 100 million albums since their inception in Boston, MA circa 1970.

On the album opener, you have their signature sleazy-blues sound in Same Old Song and Dance and their cover of the Birds' The Train Kept a Rollin'. The other iconic guitar-driven staples include S.O.S. (Too Bad), Pandora’s Box and the bass lines of Seasons of Wither. You also cannot give Lord of the Thighs a miss for its Tyler fused vocals.

Sandwiched between the group’s initially less than successful, self-titled 1973 debut and its more sophisticated-sounding, platinum-selling, 1975 breakout release, ‘Toys in the Attic’, ‘Get Your Wings’ has since gone on to be considered by many purists as a self-contained “best of” collection.

Recorded at New York City’s Record Plant studio in late 1973 and early 1974, the landmark album is a must for any rock music fan and it did well despite no MTV video coverage and marketing.

Do check the retro album for not only old time’s sake, but for a band that has survived the onslaught of everything down the years.
