This vinyl is an outstanding collection of songs by one of the greatest entertainers in our lifetime, Elton John. Elton is a performer that gives each performance his utmost best and that level is evident in each of the songs in this greatest hits grouping. ‘Elton John's Greatest Hits, Volume 2’.
The voice of our time, Elton John and lyricist Bernie Taupin have made a team that are just top notch. The songs on this album are of the best you can ever get of Elton John. So if one song can represent the feeling of liberation many people felt in the 60s and 70s, that song is Philadelphia Freedom. Besides it’s emotional edge, the other songs too have their moments.
So here we go. The Bitch Is Back, Someone Saved My Life Tonight, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, the pulsating of Benny & The Jets and John’s version of Pinball Wizard, taken from the soundtrack to Tommy, are just a few of the playlist here. You shouldn’t miss his duet with Kiki Dee on Don’t Go Breaking My Heart.
For those who already have Volume I, this is an excellent continuation of the first collection, and taken together, they function as an ideal singles retrospective of the most successful singles artist of the early ’70s.
Hissixteenth official album release and the second compilation, the cover of Elton John with a cricket bat was the idea of a photograph taken by Gered Mankowitz.
The 70's works for any day of the week. This is music at its best, back when they KNEW how to make good music, instead of annoying noise, from groups You have the man’s slower music as well as some faster beat ones. If you are an Elton John Fan, this is a good collection to have. I would highly recommend it.
