Risqué – CHIC

Like its predecessor, ‘C'est Chic’, this 1979 LP gave the hottest band in disco a platinum album. The album 'Risque',  features 6 songs and one of the most influential songs of the era, the #1 smash Good Times is hard to miss out. It's impossibly funky groove was borrowed by the Sugarhill Gang's Rapper's Delight and was the clear inspiration for Queen's Another One Bites the Dust. In its long version here it looks like the beat would never stop. It’s over 40 years and it is still is as strong as ever. I really love this cut.

The third studio album released on 30th July 1979 is one of the most defining albums of the disco age which went on to influence artists across multiple genres. ‘Risqué’ pairs dance-floor delights with lush ballads, and the hits My Forbidden Lover and My Feet Keep Dancing joining What About Me, Can't Stand to Love You, and more are just a clear indication of their gospel-tingled vocals and pitch perfect songs.

There’s the very sensuous, smooth and most sexy ballad Warm Summer Night, fab turn on, puts you in the mood setter and literally tugs at the heart. My Feet keep Dancing is in a class by itself, what with its lively, bouncy beat, topped with superb vocal arrangements makes this song eternal. The magic continues with the stunning, appealing yet adulterous My Forbidden Lover that is packed with classic vocal and instrumental arrangements. Can’t Stand to Love You is a mid tempo cut expressing disdain to a personal relationship, while Will you Cry (When you hear this song) is sad, beautiful and dramatic ballad that can give you a moment to ponder upon an insensitive lover. What about Me is a deep yearning from a lady requesting her needs to be fulfilled, pretty neat with an up-tempo beat.

Chic (stylized CHIC) currently called Nile Rodgers & Chic, is an American disco band that was formed in 1972 by guitarist Nile Rodgers and bassist Bernard Edwards.

The vinyl is solid and rich in sound with exact music as it sounded back then. This is an album that you have to have in your collection just for the title song Good Times.

I really, love this wonderful record that I have in my collection. If you’re looking for some dance songs and a fan of Chic, get this album, you can be sure you won’t be disappointed instead you'll be dancing.
